Lake Champlain and Tributaries Restoration Fund

Projects must be located in Vermont on a tributary of Lake Champlain. Preference will be given to projects located on a major tributary (i.e. the Lamoille, Missisquoi, or Winooski Rivers) or a lesser tributary going into one of these, though high-impact projects on smaller waters may be considered. Projects must either protect, restore, and enhance the ecosystem integrity and ecological connectivity of the community of aquatic life or protect, restore, and enhance lake sturgeon and their habitats or restore a self-sustaining land-locked Atlantic Salmon population in Lake Champlain. Grants $5,000 - $25,000, but will accept applications up to $50,000. Deadline December 15, 2017.

Land and Water Conservation Fund

The Land and Water Conservation Fund Program (LWCF) became effective in January 1965 to create parks and open spaces, protect wilderness and forests, and provide outdoor recreation opportunities. In Vermont, LWCF is administered by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation. LWCF grants provide up to 50% matching assistance to the state and local governments.

LaRosa Analytical Services Partnerships

The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC), through the Vermont Agency of Agriculture /Environmental Laboratory (VAEL) - aka LaRosa Laboratory, provides grants to interested lake, river, and watershed associations to form sample analysis partnerships. The purpose of this program is to help volunteer watershed associations and monitoring groups implement new and/or ongoing surface water monitoring projects for waters in need of water quality assessment. Groups are encouraged to present an action plan that will highlight anticipated outcomes of their monitoring results.

Lintilhac Foundation

The Lintilhac Foundation’s central purpose is to support organizations that are making sustainable, positive change for Vermont’s environment and its people and providing Vermonters the information and resources they need to control their environmental destinies and strong traditions of democratic engagement. One of their core giving areas is water quality, with a special focus on advocacy and science research. Grants between $5000 and $30,000. Application deadlines March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1, 2017.
