The biggest story to tell about the 18th Annual RiverSweep is all about the dedicated volunteers -- while fewer people signed up than in past years, more ground was covered and new locations were cleaned. A "spawning ground" of tires was discovered in the river bed in Springfield, some very old trash was found by students in Cavendish as they slogged through the river, and a variety of items was removed from the shoreline at the North Springfield Lake by our "Tire Brigade" in partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers. From year to year, BRAT seeks new partners and innovative ways to get more places cleaned and more people out on the water to help keep our Black River beautiful and clean for everyone.
